How to knit a Durrow knot cable. 64 rows before the repeat. Holy fuck.

black hat on 3 needles
This is so not as bad as it looks. If you trust in your ability to learn something new and can follow directions, this knitting thing is a cakewalk.

red hat I knitted
This very warm, very floppy, very Madison hat is also from Hip to Knit. It’s made with super fat yarn and stubbies so it knits up very quickly — like in two movies. Gia got the purple one, Michelle gets the charcoal one, and Jen gets the red one modeled here. I’m going to do another purple one for a friend and a charcoal one for me.

The pattern calls for you to go back and forth but it’s much faster and easier to knit it in the round and then knit the top together. I hate seaming.
I'm wearing the red hat
Hey look at me, I’m Jeffrey Zeldman.

two sticks and a string: Project #2, Green Sweater | 8:29 am |

the sweater I knitted
After success on my first project (a scarf), I thought I’d go screaming into the deep end. This sweater is out of the uckily titled Hip to Knit, which is a nice starting book as it explains the patterns in great detail, rather than just abbreviations. The torso came out too wide but in retrospect, I’m wondering if I ever measured the model. Oops. It’s super warm and Russ likes it. It’s Dynagirl Green!
