As much as I have loved the fine customer service representatives at U.S. Cellular*, it’s time for us to switch. My cell phone never gets used, because it’s just a phone. I need something to give me e-mail, web, and a camera while I’m at it; there’s no sense in shelling out to park the number and make maybe one call a month. I know I’ll be using the data capabilities much, much more. Unfortunately, U.S. Cellular doesn’t offer web phones – but, oh, joy! I could get a phone from them and use it as a wireless modem for a PDA! Just what I’ve always wanted. Not.
To cap it off: they hadn’t offered electronic payment, but in the last month or two they’ve redesigned their site. IN JULY OF THE YEAR TWO-THOUSAND AND FIVE, I can’t click a few buttons and pay the bill. O!M!F!G! Oh, they do offer electronic funds transfer so that they can ding your bank account every month, if you “Just print out the application form and fax or mail…”
Yikes. And now to begin the process of finding a phone and a service. Cheap Treos, anyone? Do I hold out to see what a Motorola Pebble actually does? When’s that frginn’ iTunes phone come out, anyway, and for how much, and can I send e-mail and read blogs on it? *Sigh.* Maybe this is why I’ve stuck with the 5120 for so long…
The irony is that I’m also gagging for a red one of these…
*I’m serious, they’re always really, really nice!
