PayableType. And the world goes ’round. | 2:23 pm | 13 May 2004
MovableType’s gone pay – at $70 for a personal license. I’m glad I switched to WordPress when I did. While I was figuring I’d finally cough up a donation, $70 is way more than I’d want to contribute considering all the things it doesn’t do that I want it to do, and the amount of time I spent deleting comment spam. Mena’s post is also a shining example of the downside of trackbacks. Ouch.

By the way I never gave a shoutout to Samir for pointing me in WordPress’ direction. Yay thank you~!

Hey, whatever works for you. I’m not too thrilled about the conversion to pay, as I said on my site, but MT’s worked just fine for me so far, and I’m quite happy with what I’ve got. YMMV.

What kills me is that they act like they’re doing us a favor, too. “only $69.95! Introductory special! Regularly $99!” Why would I want to pay $99 for something a program that is less than the one I’ve got?

Thanks for the shout meemster! Any time I can virally infect Americans with Communist software I feel the vindicated that my freedom-hating self is doing the right thing. :)
